How to build a time machine.

By

    David Langevin

When i was little, i just wanted to be big,

Like all the adults I'd ever known.

Big as in, old, mature, and independent,

I felt big in my mind, but it'd never shown.

As i've grown to understand strength and power,

I've also gained the knowledge of age and life.

And just as id always wanted when i was little,

I was all ready to grow up, within the hour.

I remembering hearing adults say “stay young”,

As though they wish they could go back,

And i wondered why they'd say so,

But i'll love adulthood, if I stay on track.

Now im here in my teens, almost grown up,

And it's scary that i now know what they mean.

I see the amazing times i had as a child,

I tell my dad about this realization ive hit, so he leans in…

Son, he says, I wish we knew…

I wish we knew when were in the good ol’ days,

I wish we knew that, before we left them… then we’d never leave.

What Have You Lost? Poem

Poem Title; Do You Think I Care?

By; David Langevin

Start your poem here….

Do you actually think I still care?

Do you think I still have the need to care?

I haven't even so much as thought about what you think for how long now?

I dont have the same weaknesses that I used to, back when I thought you mattered.

What you say, what you do, what you think, I don't hear, i don't see, i don't care,

it will never faze me again. I'm a new beast but the same person, I love it.

I've completely lost the need for your opinion, and lost the need for you.

My Quarantine Life in Numbers

ONE song (or book or movie) that always makes me feel better:

Get Money Notorious B.I.G.

TWO foods I can’t live without:

chicken

Meatball sandwiches

THREE things I hate about distance learning:

I cant see my friends everyday

Some teachers mark my turned in assignments as missing

Its hard to focus

FOUR things that save my sanity:

Working out

Walking my dog

Hanging out with my friends

Playing drums/guitar

FIVE things that I missssssssssss:

Being stupid with my boys

Actually socializing

Being able to breath without a mask

The cold early morning weather at school

Hanging out at legends after school

This is a Long One...

Not a Regular Dog

It was halloween night, 2016, when a mysterious report on the news revealed another kid had been found completely ripped apart in the woods, completely unrecognizable. This was the seventh discovery over the course of three days. Obviously, like teens do, we didn't think about it as something that could happen to us so we stuck to our plan, and walked to the park for halloween to try to scare the little kids who'd walk past us on the trail.

Things seemed to be playing out just how we thought it would, except… of course, our stoner friend brought his “party pack” as he calls it, with him. 6 out of the 8 of us used his stuff and got pretty loopy. My brother, and myself were the 2 who had decided not to touch anything and be more of a babysitter for those who were “at a disadvantage”. We walked the trail, scared some kids, and then went to the swings to just mess around and have fun. We were trying to keep everyone grouped up so no one got lost, but when we did a head count, one person was missing, it was our stoner friend Eddie.

We frantically searched and called for him but we received no answer in return. Naturally, we were beginning to worry more and more about his safety, and ours. No one mentioned it but i knew everyone had remembered what was on the news earlier that night. We weren't sure what caused the bodies to become so disfigured, but we knew it was capable of doing the same to any of us. From our left, a huge rustling noise in the bushes startled everyone. We thought maybe it was Eddie so we walked over to the sound, it wasnt Eddie. A MASSIVE dog-like creature jumped maybe 10 feet in the air, scared all of us shitless, and we ran back towards the trail. Looking behind us, this “dog” that was nearly 5 feet tall was sprinting after us on all fours! Upon another look back at it, it had stood up on its hind two legs and was sprinting even faster now, towering over us at about 7 feet tall. Its face was that of a german shepherd, but horribly cut open with blood all over its face, and claws the size of No2 pencils, and it had human like legs, but bowed backwards so it could jump higher and sprint faster. It tackled our friend Kennedy into the bushes and we all kept running for our lives!

We were about 2 blocks away from the creature now and we heard its blood curdling screech echo down the streets. We all arrived at my house because it was the closest one we could get to, and turned off all the lights in fear that it might see us through the window. In the trees, the beast dripping the blood of kennedy and eddie, was waiting for us to come outside so it could tear our flesh and dismantle our limbs tendon by tendon. The fear of what had just happened made us all very confused, sad, angery, and very tired. Eventually we all fell asleep. Once we woke up, the dog humanoid… thing, has finally left us. We called the police and told them our whole story and what happened, but they didnt believe us because the whole thing seemed so unreal. We took the police to where our friends had been tore apart, but there was nothing, absolutely nothing. Since that day, my friends and i havent spoken to eachother and i dont think we ever will, solely because of the memories that would be refreshed in our minds if we did.

Self pep Talk

Davey, I know this seems never ending but it's only temporary. The situation, the lack of energy, the lack of motivation, it's only in your head. This isn't you. You aren't just someone who would give up at the first sign of failure. It's just temporary. Covid screwed you all up. When we make it out of this, you're going to be just as happy as you used to be, if not more. And trust me… we WILL make it out of this, we've walked through this tunnel for so long and light is almost at our fingertips. All you need to do is fight for it and not give up now. Treasure what you have around you and realize it's here for a reason. When we return to normal living, all that you have around will only improve, it'll only get better from here. Don't you want to see that? I know that's all you truly want. Just push on even though it hurts and seems useless, it's all for a reason. You're going to be so strong after this and nothings going to bring you down in this hole again.
